Accessibility Checker

In the bottom right corner of the outline editor, you may notice a symbol that looks like this:

A red circle with a figure in the centre, arms stretched out to the side.

This is the accessibility checker. It is there to watch for accessibility features like alt text, captions, and headers for tables. If you see a number next to the little figure, you can click on it to see a breakdown of where the accessibility issues are within your outline. For example:

A window labelled "Accessibility Checker" noting that an image requires alt text. There is a plain text box underneath where you can type your alt text. Beneath that is a checkbox where you can note if the image is decorative.

This message will come up if you add an image without alt text. You can enter your alt text within the box provided, or mark if the image is purely decorative.

A window marked "Accessibility Checker" which notes that tables should have headers. There is a checkbox you can click to add a header to your table.

This message will come up if your table still needs a header. You can click the checkbox to add a header automatically.

If the accessibility checker has no number next to it, it has not detected any issues with accessibility. Please note that this feature is still in its infancy and does not cover all of accessibility. Please consult web accessibility guidelines to ensure that your outlines are usable by all.
